The MARSS Group is pleased to announce a new agreement with its parent company FLIR Systems, Inc. Under the terms of the new agreement, MARSS has become an independently-owned entity with increased autonomy over strategy, sales, engineering and customer support whilst retaining financial support from FLIR Systems Inc.
The new arrangement will enable MARSS to achieve even greater standards of customer service and support. Its vital decision-making processes will now be within the time zones of its strategic customers in the Middle East and Europe, while reducing its dependency on U.S. export regulations.
Since its acquisition by FLIR Systems in 2013, MARSS has grown substantially within the maritime domain. It has established its NidarTM Command & Control platform as the world’s leading integrated surface and underwater surveillance system. Based on this success, MARSS will expand its technology capabilities further with its Mobtronic and RADIRguard products, solidly grounded on the FLIR sensor portfolio.
Commenting on the successful completion of the agreement, Johannes Pinl, Managing Director of MARSS adds, “the terms of the agreement presents MARSS with an exciting opportunity. We’ll be building on our current success delivering European engineered solutions to a global client base, with a maximum time difference of only two hours from strategic markets such as the Middle East. MARSS has already decided to increase our investment in engineering and project delivery to better support our strategic markets.” Kevin Tucker, Vice President and General Manager of FLIR’s Surveillance segment, adds “FLIR looks forward to continuing our excellent working relationship with the MARSS team. The terms of our agreement provide MARSS with FLIR’s support, in combination with the independence they require to ensure continued growth and success.”
