AUTOMATED MAN OVERBOARD DETECTION & TRACKING

MULTI-SENSOR DETECTION, ALERT & RESCUE SUPPORT

MOBtronic automatically detects, classifies and alerts crew to a man overboard fall from a cruise ship.

WHAT IS MOBtronic

MOBtronic provides automatic detection of man overboard incidents and aiding the rescue, all proven in 45,000 hours of cruise operation.

Each MOBtronic unit is self-contained combining micro-radars, IR cameras with video analytics and computer processing for a reliable 97% probability of detection vs industry leading less than 3 per week MOB notification.

Mob Stats

1. MONITORING

Multiple sensor stations mounted around the vessel at strategic locations simultaneously and continuously monitor volumes of interest.

2. DETECTION

Falling objects are automatically and instantly detected, then behaviour of the confirmed tracks is analysed based on speed, fall direction, shape & strength, while independent visual sensors confirm a MOB incident.

3. TRACKING & RESCUE

Merging of multiple sensors ensures MOB radar tracks are further classified based on IR heat signature (object shape, dimension & range), while live video feeds and tracking of the victim aids rescue operations.

INTUITIVE COMMAND & CONTROL

The intuitive MOBtronic command and control interface automatically presents clear radar and video evidence for immediate identification and verification by the crew, while tracking of the victim at sea supports rapid response.

The Secret to High Probability of Detection & Low False Alarms

  • Multiple radars simultaneously monitor ship wall ensuring falling objects are detected and tracked
  • Radar tracks are confirmed by collocated independent radar sensors
  • Behavior of confirmed track is analyzed (based on speed, fall direction, shape, strength)
  • MOB radar track is verified with infrared signature (heat, object shape, dimension, range)
  • Visual confirmation by crew based on video replay; within seconds crew can confirm MOB alarm

Climber Detection

Utilising the same multi-sensor approach, MOBtronic also incorporates a secondary function to automatically detect and alert operators to climbers ascending the side of a vessel for early intruder detection.
